Because too many have turned their backs on public institutions like schools, withholding revenues that could really make schools great in America. Schools have become Soviet era concrete slabs, even while they have so many dedicated educators who want to do what they do.
I fear that the dissapearance of P.E. and recess from primary schools doesn't bode well for children. Over-medication, obesity, and other results due to the removal of these programs can negatively affect their quality of life.
Fitness industry is booming, so are fast food restaurants (obesity). HealthyLife involves more than exercise. You cannot have an intelligent discussion unless you deal with all aspects of being healthy.huffpost

PE is more than just sports and exercise, if done properly it teaches social skills and can touch upon math, science, vocabulary. the cross over into core curriculum can be easily applied. But ya, budget cuts and improper funding.
Because uninformed administrators attempting to increase test scores by removing PE in favor of other classes ignore all the research that says it’s a bad idea.

Easy. To make more time for instruction. These kids seriously need PE. They don't play outside enough. They spend too much time on digital devices.

Schools have to find the money somewhere to educate all of those UMCs and illegal alien minors. Bilingual teachers, tutors, and textbooks aren't cheap, ya know. More classrooms, buses -- those have to funded somehow.

Gym class never gave any training anyway. You had to get in sports to get that, get on the varsity squad or maybe B-squad.
