A fantastic achievement 👏🏼

Galvin Garages, located on Tobago Street, has been passionatly serving the community for five decades. On August 1, they had cake and balloons to celebrate the amazing milestone.

Richard Galvin began working at the garage, owned by his father, when he was just 15. Now he runs the family business. The 61-year-old told Glasgow Live: "My dad started it off in 1973 across the road from where we are just now. We moved into a premises which is the old police station in 1982 and we've been here ever since.Back when he was a teenager Richard never dreamed that Galvin Garages would last as long as it has.

Richard said: "I started when I was 15 in 1977. It has been such a great experience over the last five decades. You would get up and go to work to do the best you can. I never looked at the longevity of it "The 61-year-old now has one eye on the future and believes that the future remains bright for the beloved garage

He said: "My son is now in the business, so is my nephew, they're both mechanics. So hopefully in years to come they can keep us going."
