UPDATE: Officials provided new details on an acid spill at a business that prompted a shelter-in-place in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to a business called ChemStation along Boot Road, near Chestnut Street, in Downingtown at 10:07 a.m. after approximately 300 to 500 gallons of hazardous material spilled inside the facility, investigators said.

Responders observed a small vapor cloud coming from the facility that dissipated shortly after they arrived. No injuries were reported and no evacuations were ordered outside of some children at a nearby day care, dispatchers said. However, a shelter-in-place was still recommended as a large presence of emergency crews gathered at the scene while people nearby were urged to stay inside.
