SIMON BROWN: I’m chatting now with Christo de Wit, Luno country manager for South Africa. Christo, I appreciate the early morning time.
SIMON BROWN: I take that point about responsible; dip your toes in. It’s also one of the beauties of Bitcoin. I don’t need to shell out – what was it this morning? – $26 000 and buy an entire coin. I can buy the fraction so I can test the waters, and it works quite well. CHRISTO DE WIT: Yes, absolutely. Bitcoin is leading the pack, but then we also have Ethereum and XRP as part of our top three.
SIMON BROWN: Okay. If you’d said to me younger [people], it would’ve made perfect sense because I think in many senses folks think that crypto is for young ones; but 35 – that’s not really so young. But I think what’s even more encouraging is that we are seeing responsible adoption of the market, people being responsible in the way that they invest and in how they are adding this to their broader investment portfolio.
And then we also see a lot of volume coming through our exchange product, which traders then use to buy and sell cryptocurrency. We see that largely skewed towards arbitrage traders. So we do offer a varied product.
