The fire killed 15 people, including a three-year-old child.Mayor Maria Josefina 'Joy' Belmonte told The Manila Times that she directed the city's Business Permits and Licensing Department, Department of Building Official , Zoning Administration Unit as well as the Quezon City Fire District to be thorough in their inspection of businesses in residential areas.
The DBO said that the establishment did not have a building permit under the name of the owner and the same address. In April this year, it was asked to cease operations and relocate.'This time we would be stricter especially in the processing and assessment before a business gets a permit from the city government particularly those inside subdivisions or high-density residential areas,' Belmonte said.
