The closing of takeaway Brawsome Bagels in Glasgow's west end was attributed to growing prices, changes in consumer spending and technical difficulties by owner Ian Brooke.

Owner Ian Brooke, 44, blamed rising costs, changes in customer spending and technical issues for the closure of takeaway Brawsome Bagels, in Glasgow’s west end.

Despite Southside Bagels going under, Brooke’s bakery remains open – under a different company, BBHQ Ltd, which was formed in January. Brawsome Bagels opened in July 2001 and at one point was reportedly generating in excess of £20,000 a month in bagel sales. It also sold freshly baked cakes. He is currently managing director of two other Glasgow-based companies – Brawsome Goods and BB Skirving Street.
