McDonald's denying claims of them supporting Palestine, most Malaysians still believe they are doing the right thing.
Well, with struggling employees and a drastic change in their consumer numbers, McDonald's has since had to adjust accordingly to cope with the current situation. As it turns out, McDonald's branches in Melaka have opted to decrease their business hours from the former 24-hours.McDonald's is rather famously known for running its business for 24-hours, offering customers food and a place to hang out in during the wee hours of the morning.
According to Sin Chew Daily, one of the reporters had first noticed the change when they visited the branches and spotted a notice on the doors. Both declared a change in their operating hours, with the one at Plaza Melaka Sentral stated they would only be operating from 7am to 2am while Dataran Pahlawan 2's branch 8am to 12am.
However, the reason for the change in hours was not stated on the notice itself. Curious, the reporter made a query with the staff who then claimed it was mainly due to the Israel-Palestine War boycott. As the boycott had led to a decrease in customer numbers, the company modifies its business hours to match.Notably enough, the McDonald's Dataran Pahlawan 2's Facebook page still claims it is open 24-hours.
Well, hopefully things will get better for the McDonald's employees. In the meantime, we suppose we shall simply have to wait and see the outcome of the whole issue.
