A Microsoft Engineer warns that the CoPilot AI ignores copyrights and is capable of creating violent, sexual images .

Shane Jones, a Microsoft Engineer who worked for the company for six years, has written a letter to the FTC to warn that the CoPilot AI ignores copyrights and is capable of creating violent, sexual images that “sickened” him., Jones says that despite proving that Microsoft CoPilot Designer — which is powered by OpenAI technology — is capable of generating images that go against the company’s responsible AI principles.

He alleges Microsoft blocked his attempts to alert the public to the issue, so he is now taking his complaint directly to the Federal Trade Commission . “Despite these efforts, the company has not removed CoPilot Designer from public use or added appropriate disclosures on the product.” “I believe in the core tenants of Microsoft’s comprehensive approach to combating abusive AI-generated content,” he says on LinkedIn.
