Australia's wine industry has been given a major boost after a draft determination from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce suggested the potential lifting of detrimental tariffs.
"Towards the end of last year we agreed with the Chinese authorities to suspend our World Trade Organisation dispute over wine with China in exchange for an expedited review of their tariffs," he said. Ten abattoirs were restricted from export activities after being accused by China of producing meat products unfit for sale. Restrictions on Australian lobster products still remain, however, Mr Farrell revealed there was"an understanding" that authorities were reviewing tariffs on them.
