Children of different ages came together and combined their skills and creativity to showcase their best entrepreneur skills at the Kid-Prenuer Market hosted at Horizon Shopping Centre on March 23.
According to Holly Nemathithi, the marketing manager of Horizon Shopping Centre, this was the perfect chance to allow children to “be their own boss” . “ The market was hosted with a competition where the children were individually judged on three categories – are the products manned by the kids; is the pricing fair and affordable; creativity and originality of the product, innovativeness and stall presentation” Holly says.
The winner of the competition was eight-year-old Luthando Mmembu of Kwezi Books. His mother Phumzile Mmembu helps him tell his stories to relate to children his age and encourage mental health. “My son is such a sweet and respectful boy and sometimes as a male , you can get bullied for being soft so I saw fit to support his drive to make the awareness to little boys his age that it is okay to ask for help and know that you are loved,” Phumzile adds.
Second place winner was Beads by Tatum by the very talented Tatum Prall who made beautiful beads and bracelets with the help of her mom and sister.
