Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has called on electricity distribution companies to provide meters to Nigerians before increasing tariffs, stating that charging for services not rendered would defraud the citizens.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has enjoined the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, and other electricity distribution companies to provide meters for Nigerians before they embark on tariff increment. Mumuni noted that an increment of tariff on services not rendered by distribution companies will be another way to defraud Nigerians.

Mumuni in the statement signed by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, added that an increment of tariff without functional meters may result in a big crisis considering the situation of poverty hitting deeper on the citizens. 'Government should ensure metering to every nook and cranny of Nigeria before embarking on escalating the tariffs. We should be more sensible when it comes to activation on certain aspects, especially when it has to do with ourselves as a citizen.
