Nearly 700 million people in Africa still live without electricity, and minigrids have the potential to solve this problem for half of them, according to the World Bank. Husk Power pioneered the minigrid over 15 years ago, and now has about 300 in operation, with a target of 2,500 in Africa by 2030. Nigeria is our focus market, where 90 million people lack energy access.

Africa is home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world. Electricity infrastructure and adjacent businesses are critical in ensuring that growth, and therefore a long-term investment opportunity. Companies like Husk Power have proven the commercial viability of the minigrid market , and raised a $100 million Series D in late 2023. The company is aiming for an IPO in 2027.
