I have never been surrounded by so many knowledgable and highly educated people as when I was at Waterstones, nor been so poor. Idea that a ‘stimulating job’ somehow makes up for crippling poverty is offensive.

While bookshops are shrinking & disappearing off the high streets, due to the tax avoiding Amazon & because shareholders demand a bigger profit than last year, the top executives of Waterstones get paid millions & ordinary Britons get treated like machinery. What can go wrong?

get another Job then, that's how it works! 🙄

The cost of living is far too high in the UK.
