What's different a year after the wildfires? | SaltWire #novascotia #firefighting #wildfires #newsHOLYROOD, N.L. — Twenty years ago, Jolanna McGrath was working as an independent stylist, commuting from Holyrood to the Goulds each day.
"I thought to myself, 'My house has space, and if I build it, then maybe they will come,'" said McGrath. "After two weeks of operating from my house, I gave up my chair because the business took off," said McGrath. This year, McGrath is celebrating 20 years of Jolanna's Style Studio and, though her business picked up traction quickly, it doesn't mean the last two decades were easy.
"I have clients that have been true to me for 20 years. I built more than a business, I built a community."She also accredits educational institutions for enhancing programs, TV and even the Kardashians for making the beauty industry more respected. “I've never been good at saying, 'I need to run this business to make things run efficiently for me.' I am always living on the edge of my seat, not knowing if I'm going to make enough or any money this month,” said McGrath.
