A pair of pug lovers who joked about opening a pug café so they could adopt more dogs are set to launch their third site in California.
The café concept sees visitors book themselves in for an hour and play with the resident dogs or simply enjoy their company. Ahead of opening the venue, which is housed in the former School of Electronic Music unit, the couple partnered with Manchester Pug Thing, who rescue and rehome pugs. “I instantly thought of a pug café because I could have them all there. It was a joke for about a year, we laughed about it, but it’s what we’re lucky enough to do now.”
The couple worried their beloved pet pugs might not enjoy the café ahead of opening – but thankfully love nothing more than getting a fuss from customers. “I’d never thought about it that way – but we are offering something to people, especially those who live in apartments and can’t have dogs or those who work long hours.
