Two weeks after leaving Wembley in tears with Leeds United bound for another year in the Championship, Archie Gray is already back on the grind. The 18-year-old has completed his first full season of regular senior football, with 52 appearances across all competitions, but that has not seen the teenager get his feet up until the first day of pre-season.
In the meantime, Gray has not wanted to rest on his laurels or recharge after the longest season of his fledgling career. The teenager has been seen training in Dubai with a host of other domestic footballers from the Premier League and EFL. Elite Sports Performance, a training venue in Dubai, regularly brings together professional footballers keen to get into shape when they are not working with their clubs on a daily basis. Whether it’s during international breaks or the close season, players have been using the centre in United Arab Emirates to sharpen up.
The academy graduate predominantly played as a right-back last term, but dazzled in midfield at times, particularly at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the FA Cup. There are another four years left to run on the contract Gray signed at Elland Road last season.
