The master plan for the renewable energy industry, which aims to create 25 000 jobs by 2030 and foster R15 billion in new investment, has finally been approved by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy , several people close to the process have confirmed.
The implementation will now have to proceed apace if SA is to take advantage of the local boom in demand to build a sustainable manufacturing industry. Although the plan was finalised in December last year, the DMRE has been slow to launch it. When asked for a comment on the delay earlier this week, the DMRE said that it strongly supported the plan, in which it had played the leading role, working with industry, labour, and other government departments. It said that a public announcement on the plan's status would be made in the near future.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
