Supporters say it's more mutually beneficial than the full-fledged grant originally sought by the Russo family from the city.

Under the terms of a proposed deal to get Grocery Outlet into the former Cedar-Fairmount Dave's Market space by next summer, the City of Cleveland Heights would buy this private lot for $660,000 from the Russo family, who built it in 2019 between Bellfield and Grandview avenues. Tentative terms also include a $340,000 commercial development loan to assist in leveraging an overall $5 million investment in improvements to the store.

City Council introduced legislation Monday that would authorize Mayor Kahlil Seren to purchase the private parking lot built and owned by the Russo family and their Grandview-Bellfield LLC, located behind Firestone, for $660,000.
