Sarah Goninon wasn't taken seriously when she said she wanted to be an actor but has since become part of a theatre company to win international acclaim.

Actor Sarah Goninon has travelled from regional Victoria to Italy to perform and receive a prestigious award.It's a career highlight for Goninon, who is part the theatre company and one of the stars of its production, Food Court.

"I like everyone clapping and get pumped up for the audience get more clapping and stuff," she said.She was part of a Back to Back Theatre company tour to perform the acclaimed show Food Court and receive the Golden Lion Award for a lifetime achievement in theatre at the Venice Biennale.Goninon has performed in various shows many times over the past 20 years, but said Food Court was one of her favourites."My character is Jenny. She is a bully.

"Her determination to live her own life on her own terms is an inspiration," her sister, who has been her guardian and carer since 2012, said.Ms Stones said Goninon had proved the doubters wrong and was "very accomplished as a performer.""She's got a great stage presence. She's very calm on stage. She never gets bad nerves. She never forgets what she's supposed to do.""This is my first time ," she said.
