Despite the Chapter 7 filing, Godai Sushi Bar & Restaurant will continue operating — just under a new corporate name.

The San Antonio company that has done business as Godai Sushi Bar & Restaurant has filed for bankruptcy liquidation after troubles with the Internal Revenue Service. While Godai Sushi Inc. — which filed for Chapter 7 on Monday — will eventually cease to exist, the restaurant itself will continue operating -- but under a new corporate name.

Ailing San Antonio restaurant chain Sushi Zushi seeks bankruptcy protection as owners feud Godai Sushi’s bankruptcy filing came less than two weeks after another San Antonio sushi restaurant company — Sushi Zushi of Texas LLC — filed for bankruptcy reorganization as its owners were waging legal battles against each other. Earlier this year, San Antonio Express-News restaurant critic Mike Sutter named Godai Sushi Bar the third best sushi bar in the city.
