The City of Ekurhuleni has appointed Jongizizwe Dlabathi to replace EFF's Nkululeko Dunga as Finance MMC in the metro.

African National Congress’s Jongizizwe Dlabathi is the new Member of the Mayoral Committee of Finance in the City of Ekurhuleni.In a statement, City of Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza said he appointed Dlabathi following careful consideration and extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders., brings strategic insight and extensive expertise in local government practice to this role.

“I am confident that his appointment will significantly strengthen our institutional capacity, supporting our efforts to enhance financial sustainability and optimise revenue enhancement in the City,” Dlabathi said.The party said they are optimistic that, despite the current challenges faced by the portfolio, Dlabathi will live up to Xhakaza’s expectations, as he has a wealth of knowledge in local government.

He is currently the Council’s whip and the Gauteng Provincial Chairperson of SALGA, and he is also a Member of the SALGA NEC.
