Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking through his representative and Deputy Chief of Staff, Sen. Ibrahim Hasan, thanked the CCECC for providing impactful social corporate responsibility ,in terms of infrastructure, schools, among others in the country. Senate President, Goodswill Akpabio, who was also represented by Senator Amos Yonanna, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, thanked the Chinese construction company for the gesture even as he noted that it was in the nation’s law for companies to exercise their corporate social responsibilities by ameliorating the lives of citizens and communities they operate their businesses.“These are extraordinary graduates who have returned to help us build the walls of our country.

“Corporations should invest in our young people and broaden the workforce in their business environment. On his part, Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, represented by the House Chairman on Foreign Affairs, Hon Oluwole Oke, while speaking, congratulated the students for having the rare previlege of enjoying the scholarship of CCECC.

He bemoaned the lackadaisical attitudes of some companies in undertaking their corporate social responsibilities, asking them to sit up by emulating the Chinese construction company, CCECC. According to the minister, “The Federal Ministry of Transportation took various steps to ensure effective implementation of the policy through engagement of the Nigerian Engineers, technicians, and craftsmen on the on-the-job training program being organized by the ministry and engineering consultants to all railway projects of the ministry, Messrs TEAM Nig. Ltd and Jamub Global Services Ltd/Khairi Consult SDN BHD.

“The recent kind gesture of the CCECC of building the Federal University of Transportation Daura as Corporate Social Responsibility will provide another advantage of furthering your studies for those who desire to take up carrier in academics. “In 1981, CCECC made its first presence in Nigeria. After 43 years’ development, the company has turned into one of the largest infrastructure companies in the country. Its business covers the construction of railways, highways, bridges, and airports and it is committed to striding with Nigeria and has been investing in the development of free trade zone and real estates.

“For CCECC, by sponsoring these young minds to study engineering majors, which are urgently needed in the country, the company is showing the true spirit of giving back to the society and is achieving its goal of carrying out the full industrial chain cooperation with technical knowhow transfer needed in the country,” he added.

According to him,” as a company committed to strong corporate social responsibility, CCECC has consistently upheld its pledge to “stride with Nigeria” by sponsoring capability building and transferring technical know-how to young people.”
