in Botshabelo, Free State, have been halted since last Monday when parents and members of the School Governing Body demanded that the Department of Education undertake much-needed renovations on the dilapidated structureLast week Friday, the Provincial Labour Department shut down the school, citing that it did not comply with the department’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
The Department of Labour says the facilities pose imminent danger and possible injury or death to learners and employees.SGB Chairperson Thami Qakosha says, “They are allowing us to use three classes for the matriculants. Currently, we don’t know what’s going on here. That is the honest truth.”The school has more than 600 learners.
