Toronto police say there have been 43 tow truck-related shootings and discharges in the city this year.
On Wednesday, police announced the results of ‘Project Beacon’ an investigation into some of these shootings. Four people were arrested and 177 charges laid in connection with one homicide and 13 tow truck related shootings. On July 6, police were called to in the Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road area where a man was found with gunshot wounds.On July 15, with the assistance of the OPP, police arrested two youths, aged 15 and 16, and they were charged with first degree murder.Police further alleged that the pair were responsible for 11 additional shooting incidents that happened between June 29 and July 14.Police say three different stolen vehicles were used by the pair during that period.
