Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie at the Cultural and Creative Industry Ministerial Bosberaad at Birchwood in Ekurhuleni on August 30, 2024.This year’s theme is “Celebrating the lives of our heroes and heroines who laid down their lives for our freedom”.
The theme puts a spotlight on the Resistance and Liberation Heritage Route Programme and focusses on selfless struggle heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives for liberation. Government through the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and its entities, the National Heritage Council , South African Heritage Resource Agency and the Department of Military Veterans, will briefly unpack the Homecoming and Repatriation project as the key highlight for heritage month.
