The N3 Toll Concession says the N3 is now fully open after severe snowfalls in KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State caused major traffic disruptions at the weekend.
N3 Toll Concession Chief Operating Officer Thania Dhoogra says, “All stranded road users as well as those in the 30km backlog have now been safely escorted out of the area and after assessing, authorities have deemed safe enough for mobility to be restored to the area of the N3 Toll Route extending between Tugela Plaza and Harrismith.”
“This now means the traffic will be slow … some areas can continue to move all along the N3 Toll Route between Cedera and Heidelberg. Since cold weather is continuing to affect many parts of the N3, we want to encourage road users to postpone travel to the daylight hours and remind them to ensure that they plan ahead and well prepared before embarking on any travels,” adds Dhoogra.
Meanwhile, the KwaZulu-Natal government has commended emergency services for assisting stranded motorists on the N3 and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family.
