WAYNE COUNTY, Ohio - A woman accused of framing her Wayne County home explosion as a hate crime is facing several charges after investigators determined it was a scheme to defraud her insurance company, court records say.
“We got here and this is what we saw, but it was in flames, you know? It was done, there was nothing that could be saved” she told 19 News. Federal court records revealed investigators figured out it was Angela Frase who “did knowingly devise and intend to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud her insurance company and to obtain money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises from about June 1, 2019 through June 17, 2020.
The day before the house exploded firefighters were called to the home for a natural gas leak. They determined a stove burner left on caused the home to fill up with gas. On Aug. 23, 2019, Angela Frase reported to authorities that she found a white envelope with four letters on it, and inside was a clear plastic bag with “DIE” written on it and an unknown white substance inside, the docket described.
