Adam Pope's parents chucked him out when his behaviour became too much for them to handle

Adam, who grew up in Bolton, had embarked on a path of self-destruction - he regularly found himself in trouble and his mum and dad had become fed up with his behaviour. He started off sofa surfing at friends' houses until their parents too grew sick of him bringing trouble to their door.

“There was an element of safety. I was paranoid about staying in the same place for any length of time. I would sleep in the back garden of my mum and dad’s house and leave before they woke up. I would rarely stay in the same place every night. It became challenging.” “I had gone to college and I wasn’t far from finishing,” he said. “I got there and one of my tutors went, ‘I heard you’re sleeping in a tent in the woods’.

“It was the winter and it was freezing. Anything and everything would freak you out. You could hear shuffling about and you would think, ‘What was that?’ and quickly get back in your tent. He eventually started working at his father’s business as a tea boy – a humble role that finally made him realise he wanted more out of life.

But the entrepreneur says he probably wouldn’t be in his position today if it weren’t for the hardships he’s had to overcome in life.
