has netted a $1.5 billion investment from an Australian investment fund as the tech company continues to grow with the AI and cloud computing boom.

The money from AustralianSuper will make it a “significant minority investor” in DataBank. AustralianSuper will also add a member to the tech company’s board. DataBank pulled in another $483 million from existing investors, giving it more money to invest in data centers.North Texas is in the midst of a data center boom as companies look for future capacity with the anticipated demands from emerging AI projects.

DataBank has had a series of significant investments going back to 2016, when Florida investment firm DigitalBridge bought DataBank in 2016. DigitalBridge then sold a $1.5 billion, 35% share in the Dallas company in 2022 to a consortium of investment firms. DataBank has raised about $4 billion in debt and equity in the last two years, the company said.
