The owners of the childcare centre charged for leaving a child trapped on a bus for six hours in May 2022 have been fined in court.

A Queensland childcare company has pleaded guilty to four charges related to an incident where a three-year-old child was left on a hot daycare bus in 2022.

The company faced Rockhampton Magistrates Court today, with Michelle O'Rourke acting as a director of the company and defendant in the matter. The court heard new policies and procedures were introduced at the centre after the incident and the director had taken steps "immediately to address issues". She was flown to Queensland Children's Hospital in a critical condition but recovered and survived the incident. Two centre employees previously pleaded guilty to one count each of grievous bodily harm and were sentenced in Rockhampton District Court in July 2023.
