Jaap Stam has suggested incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim may face a squad dilemma that heavily influences his transfer plans.
"He plays with three up top; two wingers, two holding midfielders, and a five at the back, and the wing-backs a little higher up," he told The Mirror, in collaboration with BetMGM. "But all these players who are now in the squad, they fit that system as well. "But the two in the middle of the park is gonna be a big challenge for him," added Stam. "To say which is the ideal setup – is it with Bruno, is it with Casemiro, is it with Ugarte, or somebody else? Does he want to play Bruno as one of the wingers tucking inside? That's a big choice to make over there.
It appears almost certain 23-year-old Ugarte will have a role in Amorim's system after they teamed up to win the Portuguese Cup at Sporting. Furthermore, captain Fernandes - who left Lisbon just weeks before Amorim took rose to prominence at Sporting - is likely to remain a pivotal figure.
