The outdoor markets last got a makeover in 2012 at a cost of £1.2m

Last week Tameside council began creating an improved space for businesses and visitors in the town's centre. Work includes replacing the fixed market stall on the outdoor market with parasols, and opening up the area to create a more flexible space for community events.

Funding of £737,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Hyde Accelerator Programme is being used to progress these works.
