DAVAO'S travel industry saw a surge in tourists in 2024, driven by increased aircraft availability and more frequent flights compared to 2023. DDavao Travel Agents Association president Gian Caguiat told SunStar Davao that despite political concerns, travel demand remains strong due to airlines expanding their schedules.“The airlines added more flights to their daily schedules and are almost full,” Caguiat explained, noting that in 2023, airlines still limited flights due to COVID-19.
Qatar Airways also increased its frequency, from one to three flights a week, improving connectivity to international destinations. Caguiat noted that the expansion is driven by the airline's commitment to enhancing connectivity and addressing growing demand. It also provides travelers with greater flexibility and opportunities to connect through Doha to various international destinations, boosting travel options for both business and leisure travelers.
