IPOH: The Federal Government has lauded the initiative taken by some insurance companies to extend their coverage to include mental health.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said it was a great effort to help those who are suffering from mental issues.

"Other countries such as Singapore had practised this earlier, and I am glad we are heading in the same direction," he told a press conference at Taman Botani here Sunday . "Since there is a wide spectrum of mental illness, we believe they are covering the serious ones that are clearly defined to avoid any disputes in future," Dr Lee said.
