Blitz was conceptualized a day after the Hanley’s were laid off from their jobs due to downsizing. At the time, there was a 40% unemployment rate in the architecture and design industry in the San Francisco area. They had been considering opening their firm and decided that it was the right time. Working from their dining room table and maxing out their credit cards, they were determined to start disrupting the industry.

In addition to disrupting the status quo of design, they also pride themselves on being an example for other designers who want to start their own firm. Starting a business shouldn’t be more threatening to a creative than it is to an entrepreneur.
