Amazon Australia has launched a new category of second-hand technology products in an attempt to cash in on the booming preloved market. 9News

Amazon Australia has launched a new category of second-hand technology products in an attempt to cash in on the country's booming billion-dollar preloved market.

The refurbishment process will include a full diagnostic test, replacement of any defective parts, a thorough cleaning and inspection process, and repackaging by the seller or refurbisher. "Renewed provides Australian customers with great discounts on good as new products, paired with the reassurance of a six month warranty, and the convenience of having it delivered to their door," said Furlong.

"In Australia the second-hand or refurbished market is a $34 billion economy. It accounts for approximately 12 percent of overall retail sales and what Amazon is doing is positioning itself up against the Gumtrees and Ebays of the world with this new program," said Dr Walker. "Amazon's primary shopper is budget conscious and value-driven, and this new strategy of offering refurbished products fits beautifully."
