Some VhaVenda senior traditional leaders in Limpopo have announced their withdrawal from both the National and Provincial House of Traditional Leaders to express their unhappiness with the VhaVenda kingship report.
The houses have submitted a report to the Limpopo High Court which declares Toni Mphephu-Ramabulana ineligible as head of the Venda Kingdom.Chief Mbangiseni Masia says they are distancing themselves from the report because it was compiled without following proper processes. “We are ever disturbed by the work assigned to the houses both national and provincial, that work was poorly done there was no proof of any investigation that took place. We distance ourselves from such a report, we are not part of that report. All our senior traditional leaders of Venda descent are withdrawing from the house because they cannot continue to be part of an institution that does not protect their custom and tradition.
Spokesperson for the Mphephu-Ramabulana Royal House, Ntsieni Ramabulana, says they will make their own submission to challenge the report. “We as the family we have got nothing to say. All we can say is that we have heard what they say and we respect their decision because they took their decision independently. Obviously we can’t go to the merit of that report but we are definitely going to make a submission regarding that report.”
