'To improve the conditions and pay of these workers is going to require a radical change in terms of how these companies run,' said David Bissell, an associate professor in urban and cultural geography at the University of Melbourne.

Other services are offering employment to affected drivers.Food delivery company Deliveroo's sudden closure of its Australian business has raised concerns among restaurant owners and gig economy drivers about the future of the contactless delivery industry.

The exploitation of their workers is foundational to their business model. Offloading cost and responsibilities to 'gig workers' in exchange for meagre pay, etc. They have no business without it. Change, let alone radical change, means death for these companies.

DoorDash support is atrocious, so they'll likely be next to go. jmo
