Johannesburg Water believes that an airlock in the Illovo system may be preventing water from reaching residents’ taps. This comes after the maintenance ended two weeks ago.
The maintenance ended with the Palmiet pump station supplying Sandton, Midrand, South Hills and Alexandra Park in Johannesburg. The water utility’s Electro-Mechanical Manager Gugulethu Quma says, “There’s still challenges but we’ve made some good improvements overnight and not all the customers within the Illovo only have water but there are those in the high-lying areas who would still have some challenges. We also need to encourage paying for the services because that plays a big role as far as the infrastructure and the investment in the infrastructure.
