Magistrate AzureenSahira Sauffee Afandi meted out the sentence on Lee Han Wee, 45, after finding the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case on Friday . Lee was charged with driving a car under the influence of alcohol that resulted in a road crash and caused the death of Melaka Historic City Council employee Abdul Rahim Mohamad, 53, at Jalan Klebang here, at about 12.45am on Nov 29, 2021.
Lawyer Alhirzan Mohd Akhir who represented Lee, applied for a stay of execution of the prison sentence by stating that his client required specialist treatment after sustaining a hip injury in the incident.
