The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has clarified a statement made by the New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, regarding the 2027 election. Kwankwaso was quoted as saying he would win the 2027 election.“I wish to remind you that PDP is dead because we left the party. Since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out,” he had said. However, Atiku's Special Adviser, Abdul Rasheeth, claims he was misquoted.

Instead, Kwankwaso expressed his commitment to ending the All Progressives Congress government in 2027.“It’s important to note that Kwankwaso was clearly misquoted in that video. Nowhere did he mention winning the 2027 Presidential Election. I still believe he is one of the strong politicians who has Nigeria at heart and would be part of any arrangement to end the APC’s bad governance,” Rasheeth wrote on social media.
