Thousands of members of the International Longshoremen’s Association initiated a strike as their contract expired at midnight, impacting dozens of ports across the U.S., including Mobile, New Orleans, and Houston. The strike aims to achieve higher pay for workers and bans on automation at U.S. ports, but is causing major disruptions to the trucking industry nationwide.
