Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Baru Serting from Negeri Sembilan won the PNB Investment Quiz recently in the Youth Category, beating four finalist schools that were part of 300 schools in the PNB Smart Investment Club (KPBPNB). As the national quiz champion, SMK Bandar Baru Serting took home a prize in the form of Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) units worth RM3,600.
The other four schools that competed in the final round were SMK Rosli Dhoby, Sarawak (runner-up), SMK Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah, Kedah (third place), SMK (L) Methodist, Kuala Lumpur (fourth place) and SMK Dato’ Ahmad Maher, Kelantan (fifth place). According to a TNB press release, the quiz offered prizes in the form of ASB units or any trust units managed by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB). It said that the total prize pool for the competition was RM11,700, with the runner-up receiving units worth RM3,000 and the third-place winner receiving units worth RM2,100. Two consolation prizes were also given to the finalists, each worth RM1,500. The PNB Investment Quiz aims to foster financial literacy and investment awareness among young students. Launched in 2001, the Youth Category was initially open to all secondary school students nationwide. However, starting in 2023, participation is limited to schools registered in the KPBPNB program. This year, the PNB Investment Quiz received 12,739 entries, bringing the total number of entries since its launch to 448,353. Among the students who participated in the competition include Muhammad Nur Iman from SMK Bandar Baru Serting, Negeri Sembilan who won the competition
