Energy Minister AngusTaylorMP says wholesale prices in Australia have 'halved from where they were', and has ramped up pressure on companies to pass on the savings.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor says wholesale prices in Australia have "halved from where they were", and has ramped up pressure on companies to pass on the savings. Mr Taylor said the government was "very clear" it wanted to see "wholesale prices moving towards $70mwh".

"Even before the coronavirus crisis hit we saw wholesale prices halve, we want to see that passed on to customers as contracts roll over. "For heavy industry, it's the vast majority of the total cost in energy and that's a crucial point as we want to see job recovery happening on the other side of COVID-19." Image: News Corp Australia
