A Melbourne-based global biopharmaceutical company has been fined more than $93,000 after advertising a nasal spray which has not been approved for use in Australia.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration issued the company seven infringement notices totaling $93,240 for promoting its nasal spray, Viraleze, via its website and YouTube channel.

Starpharma issued a statement on Monday, and said the company"immediately acted" after they found out.
