Frontline members of the 20,000 volunteer army – including surf competitors and nipper instructors – will need to be double dosed or face being taken off the beach.
Surf Life Saving NSW chief executive Steven Pearce said the organisation did not want to lose volunteers over the mandate, and thus would be “as flexible as possible” with those not yet jabbed. The move is designed to protect both volunteers and the public, and comes after heated debate within the ranks of the organisation.
