As for the departed, can anyone blame automakers for cutting their losses when it’s difficult enough to build the vehicles customers actually want? There has perhaps never been a period where the cancellation of a specific vehicle line could be more easily tolerated. So severe is the microchip and general parts shortage that the assembly volumes for these discontinued vehicles was inconsequential.That’s not to say they were all bad cars. In certain instances, they arrived late to a party.

As 2021 comes to a close, it’s time to bid farewell to this group of failed experiments. Why were they axed? How bad did it get before the herd was culled? What could have been done differently? We have answers.Technically, the Acura NSX has another model year remaining under its belt. But 2022 will definitely be abbreviated. There will only be 350 Type S versions of the NSX built for global consumption in 2022. That marks the end of the line for Acura’s second-generation NSX.
