Federal Industry Minister Ed Husic has launched a blistering attack on gas companies, accusing them of failing to take a price crisis seriously.

The federal government is planning some form of intervention in the energy market to bring prices down in the coming months. The October budget forecasted gas prices would rise 44 per cent in the next 20 months, with electricity prices to rise 56 per cent during the same period. But Mr Husic said since then, companies were charging higher contract offers despite an agreement to get more supply into the domestic market.

Federal Gov't: Stop Talking & Start Taking ACTION. Some people are hanging on by their 'fingernails', waiting for you to Stop the Pig-Fest by the Australian Energy Companies. They won't stop investing & producing Energy, they've too much to lose, even after a Fair Tax is taken.

A news article for 'low information types'.

Message ..STOP , UTILIZATION OF THIS SUBSTRUCTURAL, SURFACE TENSIONING, PRESSURIZATION. equates to immediate need of being beyond affordability. COST PROHIBITIVE.TIME EcocideLaw gastivists Again find alternacy,to this impending apocalyptic structural collapse. TEDTalks CNN

All talk, no action....

change the law - pull the contracts - make them pay --- you have the power. Get out a chainsaw and take it to the boardroom and cut that shit in half. Be a man Ed Husic.

PatsKarvelas No tax paid … Change the tax laws these minimisation plans are out of control

PatsKarvelas Take a look at your net zero policy. Do something meaningful not just hot air. We are not stuipid you know

Well you can thank both parties in government as coal seam gas has been getting mined for over 15 years now (got wells on the family property) and yet they both did nothing. Plus the state governments for not doing anything. Yet it us the people that are paying the price

lots of good intentions and ideas here but all slacktivisms. ABC can't change policies - members of parliament can change policies but they only know they need to do this by hearing from the Australian public. Has anyone here actually written to their pollie?

The same Federal Govt that's driving up the market price of gas by destroying viable alternatives.

Oh, come on, Australian gas companies are angles, it's all Putin as he is the one who weaponising gas... Australian gas companies just forced to get these big profits and charge Australians more

Spot on supertax the bastards

Tax them.

PatsKarvelas Well do something! Windfall tax now! You're the bloody government.

PatsKarvelas Windfall tax like in the UK?

Capitalism is naked greed, we ought to know that by now, & not expect companies to operate 'fairly'. If we don't like corporate theft we need to vote for a party that will end it and only allow a fair return from what is profiting from us, not this bullshit we currently accept.

Arrow Energy, a major gas co in Qld paid no income tax in 20/21 despite income of $271m. Farmers of prime ag land on Darling Downs are obliged to host them despite known detrimental future impacts. Regulatory intervention must include protection of prime ag land FoodSecurity

All resources companies should be Nationalised. We could be the Saudi Arabians of the south.

Open up exploration, cut the red tape. Let the gas flow. Stop regulating it.

is it right that a government going ahead with stage 3 tax cuts that benefits its members most use the word greed

Then tax the sht out them then or force them to supply Australia first. Grow some balls

tax more & they will slow production and cease investment in future capacity, why produce more if it's taxed more? Aus East coast needs a 20% domestic reservation policy, encourage more production. The broad economy will grow massively with at cost cheap energy.

Absolutely, now do something about it. The reason they keep putting the price up is greed, and the fact that the government, Labor, and coalition, let them, they are complicit.

ffs...Why do they think taxing them more will ease the cost of living of living & benefit consumers? Wouldn't it just be better to decouple the domestic gas from international prices? Like what WA has? More tax is government greed and ideology to shut down fossil fuel.

All natural resources, 40% royalty period. Other very wealthy countries do this

So is an outright lie everytime albo or anyone else blames Putin for gas price increases and the inflation that comes with this?

That's hilarious. One Mafia crowd accusing another Mafia crowd of being more corrupt than they are.

Putin smiles.

I’m very angry said Husic. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about and how the system works and yet he’s very angry. See Oil.

**economically illiterate governments implement decades of environment and energy policy designed to achieve nothing except limit the supply of energy** **energy prices rise** **economically illiterate government** :

It's ok because Albo knows 'people are doing it really tough', we know that because he says it every time before he jets off somewhere else splashing cash around. He grew up in social housing if you didn't know...

maybe the minister for energy rip offs could get the message just like DAN did

I'm liking Labor's talking points indicating a PRRT for gas. Hopefully laying the groundwork for a windfall tax on these players, and generally ensuring they pay Australian tax instead of shipping profits offshore.

enough talking, time for action. This is a defining moment for australianlabor and the public want to see if the nation comes first or large multi-nationals that profiteer and pay no tax here. No reservation policy and windfall profit tax would be a disaster auspol ausbiz

Albo's still thinks it's an election campaign talk, talk & no solutions. News flash AlboMP you won Tearing up border security, republic is NOT what Australians voted for when families are struggling everyday with cost of living crisis. The ghosts of Rudd & Gillard are circling

Where was the outrage when Twiggy was selling iron ore at $160/t or the coal miners receiving record prices? Low taxes and reservation failures are the fault of government.

What tf is a 'blistering attack' of words gonna do? Just legislate the correct taxes on them, and close the bloody loopholes. Fools.

Who would have thought that government policies trying to reduce oil and gas production would raise the prices of oil and gas. What would happen if we started to increase the production of oil and gas?

Selling off essential services Massive fuck up

More empty rhetoric from Labor. Does Husic not realise he's not in opposition anymore?

You mean they are acting like politicians?

The big companies love weak Govts who know nothing about business. We deserve high prices for voting in the Albonese Labor Govt.

It’s a supply problem due to past moratoriums on exploration and development. Blame the Greens, Lock the Gate crowd of grifters. Blame the climate change patsys.

A minister talking about the greed of others.

IndustryGovAu slap a quota on exports immediately while you put a reservation policy in place.

This is what you get when you give private companies control of natural resources.

Labor needs to ‘stop pushing renewables so hard’ and support the gas industryLabor should be supporting the gas industry in order to push down energy prices, says Sky News host Chris Kenny. “The other way, of course, to help keep prices low is to stop pushing renewables so hard that gas generators can't afford to lock in long-term, cheaper gas contracts,” he said. Mr Kenny said the “soaring gas prices” are “feeding” into electricity prices, with policies having been “directed at pushing gas out”, resulting in the closing of gas generators. “And Labor wonders why the gas that's left is so expensive.” Is it not time that Australia and the US stop this war with the energy giants and cap prices to bring inflation down. Interest rates go up then energy prices go up and filter through to every aspect of economic and personal life. Rates seem futile... with energy unharnessed!
