In response, Kwon Jin Young pressured the manager to convince Lee Seung Gi to use his personal funds.

So the Board chairman & the members of the Board didn't insist on a yearly audit which would be performed by an outside company. It would be an unannounced audit so the paper trail wasn't forged or disappear. The audit could have been performed while the CEO was on vacation.
