The CEO of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation Eoghan O'Mara Walsh has said it will be 2026 before the Irish tourism sector returns to pre-pandemic levels

CEO of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation Eoghan O'Mara Walsh has said it will be 2026 before the Irish tourism sector returns to pre-pandemic levels.

Around seven million international tourists came to Ireland this year, according to research from the ITIC.Of the seven million international tourists in 2022, the ITIC estimates that 2.6 million came from mainland Europe with 2.4 million coming from Britian and 1.5 million arriving from North America.Mr O’Mara Walsh said tourism is"very vulnerable to external factors" and that"next year is going to be no different".

He said it could lead to a shortage of beds in 2023, which could have knock-on impacts in towns and villages.

An honest tourist improving our economy gets a room for €300 a night. A dishonest illegal immigrant who leaches from the economy and welfare gets a room for free. How is this fair? Would love a free night away in a hotel in Ireland myself! Can’t afford an night away

Tourism is over. The govt have destroyed 1 of our most important industries. €300+ for a room/night - unless ur here illegally, you get a hotel room for free along with free food &money. But hopefully they will all move out soon into their free houses (!!) to get tourists back

Really? From the rip-off prices that hotels are charging and the generous money from the government to house Ukrainian economic migrants, the industry appears to be doing just fine.

Not at the rate we are going with hotels being used to house people

Let's go to Killarney or Wicklow to see genuine racial grooming by Migrants, just as good as Paris with out the riots

The powers that shouldn't be don't want you to travel...all of these nonsense 'predictions' about 'returning to normal' are nothing more than nefarious distraction. Come on Ireland, wake up. We are being played. Wef scum out.

And longer if the state keeps hiking up accommodation costs

Did you ask him where will tourist stay when in Ireland?

The hoteliers seem to be doing just fine!!!! I do feel sorry for the balance of tourist sector. Rooms are occupied but no spend. Why can't Ukrainians & homeless be put up on cruise ships and free up hospitality sector for inward spend etc. We need to think differently ...

It will never return, they've killed the goose that laid the golden egg, same with the pubs ultimately greed finished them off.

The best little country to be a tourist. I can't understand why people complaining about the price of things. Sure isn't everything free. Hotel rooms, food etc. What other country can match that generosity. And if you really like it here you can apply for a free house and stay.

What Pandemic you created a bioweapon to kill people. It's carbon monoxide, prion virus's. You told all the doctors to be quiet and kill as many as possible. All the NAZI propaganda 😂😂😂😂

Stop ripping everyone off and just maybe it will get better

How about never with the government occupying most hotels 🤔

Cheaper to holiday in the Bahamas then holiday at home

Yea… only when there’s enough hotel beds to take the tourists in.. but the virtue signalling from the government having an open door policy for imports will stop that.

Don't fool yourself. Its not coming back. They plan is to wreck our economy with the full support of the bought mainstream media.

No it won't, the hotels will be full of refugees for many many years to come and the rip off prices will never go...

The FFGG govt destroyed tourism and destroyed so many lives.

I don’t think so. I was in Ireland recently and it’s so expensive for everything

Screw them, they turned against their own with discrimination and segregation

FF and FG are genuinely destroying Ireland with insane policies

It will be a lot longer than that if the government keeps up with the policy of open borders for the world economic migrants.

will be too late for a lot of these hotels who are ripping off irish people they will be closed by then need action now filling them with refugees isnt helping either

Making 3 days in Killarney cheaper than a week in Madrid would be a start

MaldronDubAirpt is €349 for 1 night in June for a family room and that doesn't include breakfast, ye are ripping customers off

X7x7z7xxz⁰rsdddddddddß

Wishdul thinking nearer to 2036 if ever who wants to visit Killarney etc and be accosted by gangs of young foreign men hassling the local young woman NO ONE IS THE ANSWER

It'll be 2026 before they manage to clear the hotels of the current flock of....err, 'guests', he means. Good luck with that. It'll take a whole lot longer than 4 years to build the shitty houses they've all been promised that is fo sho', 🤡.

It’s finished, where are the tourists going to stay?

'Prices'

It will if they keep ripping off customers

What Hotels will they be staying in

Been over in June …

How does Killarney, Co. Kerry, tourist capital of Ireland, come back from this: 👇🏼 Killarney population 10,000. Refugee population 3,000. Number of hotel beds 6,000. % beds occupied by refugees 40%. Killarney is finished!!

Irish tourist level will never return to Ireland, have you seen the price of a night in an hotel?

Legalise green and watch how quick it comes back be the new visited European country we have the views , have the history , have the craic mainly 🤣 But if they were to just legalise a plant, the hospitals be better cause more money , hospitality sector be flying

Fake news. Sure the hotel sector is at full occupancy 24/7 these days.

We have extra tourists from Ukraine due back in Ireland this week
